Press Filter

A filter press is a piece of equipment used in the filtration process for separating solids from liquids. The principle behind the filter press is simple; a slurry or sludge is pumped into the press and then forced through a filter cloth by pressure. The filter cloth traps the solids, allowing the filtered liquid to pass through and exit the press.

The filter press consists of a series of plates, with each plate having a filter cloth on both sides. The plates are arranged in a stack, with the slurry being pumped into the center of the stack. The plates are then pressed together, creating a seal that forces the slurry through the filter cloth and into the collection tray below.
